Calling All Library Lovers: National Library Week is April 9-15!

Next week, April 9-15, 2017, is National Library Week! The theme of this year’s National Library Week is “libraries transform,” reminding us of all libraries can do for and with people. Do you love your local library and want some ideas on how to celebrate National Library Week? Here are some of ours:

  1. Visit your library!

Check out what’s new at your local library. Libraries across the country are participating in the celebration, and Babcock Library will be too, complete with refreshments that will be provided by the Friends of the Babcock Library on all the days we’re open that week!

2. Show your support on social media

Follow Babcock Library on Facebook and Pinterest.

3. Check the Facebook page on Thursday, April 13

Thursday is Take Action for Libraries Day, and we’ll be posting more information on how you can help libraries sometime during the day. Libraries in CT are facing a lot of unique challenges this year, and we’d love for you to help out!

Feel free to check out the Facebook page throughout the week as well for other National Library Week events and information!

Help CT Libraries

As some may know, the governor’s proposed budget includes completely cutting the borrowITCT program. To help out, the CT Library Association is sponsoring a letter writing campaign¬†from now until March 25. We encourage you to join us in writing letters to our legislators to keep this valuable program. If you want more information on talking points for your letters, links and emails, and more, check out the CT Library Association’s homepage for more¬†on the campaign.
