They Touched My Heart- Haiti

Sue Calkins, an Ashford resident, will talk about her time spent volunteering at the Crèche, an orphanage in Haiti, as well as share photos of the children. She spent 3 1/2 months there this year and plans to return for a month in the fall. Sue is helping to develop the Mother’s Heart Program that is bringing volunteers to the Crèche to nurture the children.

Friends Book Sale

The Friends of the Babcock Library will hold their annual Book Sale October 18 to October 20. Please stay tuned for hours of the sale. Books, DVDs, audios, and library bags will be available for purchase.

Harvest Black-Out Poetry

We will use old newspapers and books and provide you with a giant Sharpie. Open to young adults and adults. Bring your creativity! Friday, October 11th at 4:30 

Pumpkin/Scarecrow/Sunflower Contest

Bring in your Scarecrow during the week of October 20 Scarecrows must be free standing, we will not provide props to stand the scarecrow up.

Bring in your largest sunflower head, anytime during the week of October 20! We will measure your sunflower head; if your sunflower head is the biggest of all the entries, you will be declared the winner.

Bring in your book themed decorated pumpkin anytime during the week of October 20. No carved pumpkins allowed.

Come vote Saturday, October 26 from 9 am to 12 noon. Winners will be announced at 12:30 pm on Saturday, October 26. Open to all ages.

Knitting Club

The knitting club meets every Wednesday at 1:00 pm, everyone is always welcome whether you already know how to knit or you want to learn. Come and join our knitting group.

Learn to Play the Ukulele

Sue Way will instruct students on how to play and tune a Ukulele.  Participants must have a valid library card in good standing for this program.  Program is designed for participants 9 years old and up.  (Yes, adults are welcome!)Registration is required.

Overdrive Training

The Library now has a subscription to Overdrive for
Babcock Library card holders!  Overdrive
offers e-books and audiobooks that you can access on your mobile devices. Bring
your phone, iPad, tablet, Kindle, or NOOK to the library and we will teach you
how to get started!
